And with that Terran Command also looks and feels like an RTS from the late '90s too, but is that enough to carry you through the game's sizable 20-mission campaign?

As part of a 12-odd-minutes-long retrospective on the genesis and eventual development of Dragon's Dogma by Hideaki Itsuno and his design team, the lads tore off their respective over-garments to reveal Dragon's Dogma 2 t-shirts, revealing that the game was in the works, while also thanking fans for their patience.

In a new trailer, New Zealand-based developer, A44 Games, details the setting of its forthcoming open-world action-RPG, Flintlock, where magic and industry collide. Dubbed "Flintlock Fantasy" by the studio, and described as a "merge of Napoleonic-era technology and classic magical themes", Flintlock's unique spin on the pen and paper trope that is the wild versus industry is a tantalising one indeed.

With Blizzard noting that this surprise update to the game is "the first of multiple updates coming this year for Warcraft III: Reforged". As a remaster of one of the most celebrated RTS games of all-time, Reforged launched to a lukewarm response from critics and some sizable backlash from fans due to it failing to live up to the promise of a worthy remaster.

Square Enix is definitely all-in on its stallion with fan-favourite, Final Fantasy VII. In a broadcast stream today celebrating the 25th anniversary of the landmark entry in the franchise, the studio unveiled new details and a first look for its next bout of Final Fantasy VII-related gaming, specifically with the second entry in the Remake series, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Overwatch 2 is set to launch on October 5, 2022 (AEST) as a free-to-play live game, kicking off with the game’s first Season of content that is set to bring new maps, modes, and new heroes like Sojourn and the recently announced Aussie addition, Junker Queen. Yep, them thar OG murderous hillbillies, with faces of leather and a penchant for shutterbugging and unusual home decorating, are getting their own videogame treatment from Gun Interactive, by way of an "asymmetrical horror experience", scheduled for PC and consoles sometime soon.

Hit survival game Valheim is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in the first-half of 2023, where it will join the Xbox Game Pass line-up. And on the PC front, Valheim is coming to PC Game Pass later this year - very cool news, as Valheim has been something of a phenomenon on Steam.

In other Fallout news today (psst... Fallout 5 is coming), the online Appalachian action of Fallout 76 just got a new update dubbed 'Test Your Metal'. It arrives alongside Season 9 for the game, and introduces three new Public Events. One of which is something of a Bethesda RPG staple going all the way back to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - an arena mode.

But it might take a while, a long, long while. In a new interview with IGN, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard confirmed Fallout 5's existence. Except that it'll come after The Elder Scrolls 6, which is still in pre-production on the account of Starfield being in the final stages of development.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl's planned December 2022 release date got pushed to the sidelines earlier this year as conflict broke out in Ukraine - the location of development studio GSC Game World. As part of an extended Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase early this morning we got the official word that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is now due in 2023.

Frostpunk was a brilliant take on what you'd call a 'city builder', and before that developer 11 bit studios had the critically acclaimed This War of Mine. With Frostpunk 2 in the works the studio has lifted the lid on another game, a clone-driven sci-fi mind-bender called The Alters.

Yesterday we got a surprise reveal that Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions was partnering with Microsoft to create a new cloud powered game. An ambitious undertaking that Kojima described as a game "no one has ever experienced or seen before". Cut to PlayStation fans expressing their concern.

Gloomwood from New Blood Interactive and designers Dillon Rogers and David Szymanski (Dusk) is a very cool looking retro-inspired immersive sim meets survival horror. Taking inspiration from the era where these genre's took hold (think Thief and others), and yeah, this is one Early Access launch to keep an eye on.
