The slightly more budget version of Microsoft's new-gen machine, The Xbox Series S is getting a bit of a makeover, and a boost in storage. Revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase that took place during Summer Game Fest, the new console will be available to punters from September 1 for USD$349 (currently a bit over $500 in AUD).

When it comes to gaming, Xbox welcomes a community of gamers from around the world who play all kinds of games on a variety of devices they love. One thing we heard from gamers is that they wanted the option to have more storage included with their consoles.

Meet the new Carbon Black Series S with 1TB of storage. Whether you’re looking to upgrade from your current console or are new to Xbox, the Xbox Series S – 1TB offers you another option within the Xbox family of devices. The bold Carbon Black color is the same sleek, modern matte finish as Xbox Series X and the Xbox Wireless Controller. This console features the same next-gen speed and performance of our 512GB Series S, now with double the storage so you can download even more of your favorite games to your console where they’ll be ready to play when you are. Plus, you’ll make the most of every gaming minute with features like Quick Resume, lightning-fast load times, and gameplay of up to 120 FPS – all powered by Xbox Velocity Architecture.
At the time of writing, we don't have any news on official AUD pricing or availability but given the current model S retails for $499 in Australia and the above conversion, we can't see too much of a shift in pricing. We've reached out to our local Xbox team for pricing and will update this news item with that information when we get it, so stay tuned.
