Another standout from Sony's PlayStation Showcase was a trailer for Ghostrunner II, sequel to the cyber-ninja parkour visual show-pony that was the OG Ghostrunner (natch). More gravity-defying, death-defying, high-flying action was on display with that art style and game-world we fell in love with in the first place.
Set one year after the original critically acclaimed Ghostrunner when cyber ninja protagonist Jack escaped Dharma Tower, Ghostrunner 2 explores the wasteland beyond. Featuring intense fast-paced-push-forward combat and its signature challenging gameplay, the sequel promises to up the ante from the original in every conceivable way, including, for the first time, vehicular combat as Jack takes to the wastelands on his new motorcycle.
So as you can see, the switch up here is the inclusion of his motorbike (hoping another Akira homage is accessible or even an official Kaneda bike, but we'll see). Of course all the other tropes and tentpoles are there, from giant mega structures to abandoned wastes to the always-welcome synth soundtrack and beyond.
The game is set to release later in the 2023 and is coming to PC and next-gen consoles.
