For those that need a refresher, Yooka-Laylee is a fantastic new platformer from ex-Rare developers that's very much a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie. Which naturally means that the entire world should mark the April 11, 2017 date down as the time to rekindle their love of classic 3D platforming. The crowdfunded game has a local price-point of AUD $59.95 when it launches for PS4 and Xbox One. Also, developer Playtonic Games has announced that development on the Wii U version has, err, switched to the Nintendo Switch!
"We can confirm today that we are working very closely with Nintendo to look to bring Yooka-Laylee to the upcoming Nintendo Switch. We’re thrilled to be able to explore the opportunity and more details will be shared in early 2017. Of course, any backers who pledged for the Wii U version will be able to move their pledge to any of the versions launching on April 11th or upgrade to the Nintendo Switch™ version when we announce further details in 2017. Thanks again for your incredible support."
Working closely with Nintendo? Awesome news. So we should probably expect pre-orders and an official announcement of the Switch version in January. And speaking of pre-orders, those that do so will instantly unlock the Yooka-Laylee Toybox. A spoiler-free sandbox that gives a taste of the mechanics.
Oh, and here's a new trailer showcasing newly announced world -- Capital Cashino.
