CVG has a report on details that will appear in the January issue of the UK's Xbox World magazine (out in December) which will feature an 8-page "expose" on everything they know about Microsoft's Xbox 360 successor, which the magazine is claiming will just be called "Xbox".

"Unless something really dramatic changes, everything we reveal in our penultimate issue will be revealed long before E3 in June," the magazine's editor, Dan Dawkins, reportedly told CVG. Most of the reveal is likely to focus on AR Glasses, a unique or "innovative" controller, directional sound, Kinect 2.0, a Blu-ray player and TV output and input. It's also reported that dev kits currently in the hands of developers feature 8GB of RAM and a CPU with "four hardware cores, each divided into four logical cores".

The feature article, however, remains speculative and all images (pictured right) of the purported console are actually just internally-created mock-ups (that look mighty impressive, we might add). And despite the magazine having a solid track record for reporting accurate leaks, until Microsoft officially unveil "Xbox" themselves, we just have to wait and see. The CVG article also says the January issue of PSM3 will feature a similar write-up on the PS4, though there are no details on-hand for what that magazine is reporting.

You can buy the digital version of Xbox World by clicking here, or here for Apple Newstand.

The mock up looks so much better than what they will inevitably come up with.

Doesn't really matter anyway, I'm not paying $15 a month for the "privilege" of multiplayer.

Even if I was soft in the head enough to do that, what for? FPS's? I can play those on PC, thanks.

Glynd, did they change the cost? Last time I saw it, it wanted $15 a month or some bulls***.

You can get 12 months for $50 or so, which is about $4 a month

I think the xbox controller is the best controller around. I would hate to see them change it significantly. The only thing that kinda sucks is the D-Pad, other than that. It's top notch.

Yep its ~$50. If you can't pay that you have bigger problems. The system wide chat is worth it alone.

New console hardware is always exciting. Can't wait.

CVG stopped printing monthly magazines years ago. I think "CVG Presents" is still a magazine though.

Oh really? Guess that shows how long its been since I bought a print gaming magazine :( I remember buying CVG when I was a kid and reading reviews and cheat codes for Mega Drive games. Those were the days!

On topic though, not sure I really like that mockup, it looks rather generic, like any other number of media players on the market atm, need something more distinctive.

To true, that mock up looks great.

Even at $4/month, I still baulk at the idea of paying for yet one more thing that's been free.

First it's multiplayer, then it's maps?

Next it'll be the ability to shoot at 0.05c a round, otherwise you're stuck with a f*****g knife.

You're not really paying just for multiplayer though, you're paying for the user of the Live service as a whole (which, yeah, includes multiplayer, but thats just part of it). I guess its not ideal, but its really not that expensive, and its a really good product/service so I don't mind paying a few dollars a month for it. Same way that I could use free Spotify, but since I was using it so much and its a good service, I signed up for the monthly subscription version. I've got no problems paying a couple of bucks a month for stuff that is actually good.

i agree with Khel. I get a 12 monther and usually get 2 extra months free.
servers are good for some MW action.

doesn't seem to deter to many people so maybe Sony will change theirs to make some money.

While I agree that $4 a month isn't expensive, the fact that I use online multiplayer on my console only a very few times a year, but would not want to be without the ability, pretty much precludes me from ever getting an Xbox.

Download speeds that are actually decent are an attractive prospect though.

Just seems absurd to have to pay a subscription fee to enable features on a console that I would absolutely consider core requirements.
