If you've ever needed proof of just how incredible the whole Xbox backwards compatibility focus has been over the past few generations leading into the release of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S - well, here it is. With YouTube creator Modern Vintage Gamer firing up Crimson Skies on the original OG Xbox console, and then getting a LAN-game going on four generations of hardware.

This uses the System Link functionality from the original Xbox - the same very cool pre-broadband feature that led to 16-player Halo sessions by linking up consoles via LAN. Here we see a game of Crimson Skies hosted on the original Xbox and from there see the Xbox 360, Xbox One X, and Xbox Series S all connect without issue.

This is God Tier emulation on behalf of Microsoft, and with the latest consoles able to improve how the game looks and feels it's basically a magic trick. Especially when you realise you've a got a very old console connecting to a machine from the distant future and thinking, 'Hey, it's just another Xbox'.
