That packaging, a bit of cardboard for the next-gen
Xbox 'Robot White' controller. With the controller and paper-based container appearing on Twitter thanks to user @TinyRakan. Where in addition to Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless functionality, the list of support devices reads as: Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, Windows 10, Android, and iOS. Which makes sense when
Project xCloud is looking to support multiple devices, and that backwa.... hold on,
Xbox Series S!?.
Yeah, the long-rumoured mid-tier Xbox console that will sit between the Xbox One S and the Xbox Series X in terms of pricing (
the Xbox One X has been discontinued) looks to be real. Which means an announcement is likely on the cards for later this month at Gamescom.
Based on hardware leaks the Xbox Series S is less powerful than the Xbox One X (in terms of raw-numbers) though it makes up for that thanks to fast SSD storage and new AMD Zen/RDNA architecture powering the CPU/GPU. It should be fairly impressive as a 1080p replacement for the Xbox One -- though it remains to be seen if its announcement confuses things more than anything.
Back to the controller though, the addition of Bluetooth and a dedicated share button is very cool - and the overall design keeps things in line with the excellent Xbox One controller. That said, seeing that battery lid raises a one word question... why?
