A Microsoft representative has revealed to Kotaku that their next-gen console will not be featuring real names in lieu of Gamertags come the launch of the console on November 22nd.

Previously announced back in May during the unveiling of the console, the feature would allow players to attach their real name to accounts and identify each other through said method. This however seems to have been postponed according to the representative.

"While real identities continue to be part of our plans for the experience on Xbox One, at launch, customers will continue to search for friends using their Gamertags," the representative told Kotaku. "Our teams are working hard to deliver a quality experience for Xbox One. This means prioritizing some features and sometimes postponing others for a later update."

For now it seems like Xbox One adopters will have to stick with Gamertags until a patch arrives, allowing you to adopt your real name. While we twiddle our thumbs you can check out the latest video on the Xbox One below, with Microsoft detailing support for a number of racing accessories come the launch.

Yes because letting 13 year old girls put their real names and photos on a gaming platform is such an awesome idea. I can see no way that that might ever go wrong.</sarcasm>

On Racing accessories:
No surprise from MS here. Even Apple have been better about 'classing out' accessories over recent years, Whilst I can understand that there might be a compatibility issue with controllers etc, the part where they refuse to support even 'middle road' accessories for racing games is bluntly stubborn imo.

No support for the Logitech G-25/27 from the xbox 360 (presumably because Logitech didn't pay whatever bs licencing MS were after) was a basic mistake I think (I know Logi did make a 'co-axial FFB' wheel for the 360, but it, like the MS Steering wheel, was poo) and one that given this news means I'll be almost definitely avoiding an xbone.

Are Fanatec rebadged as 'Mad Catz' in the states? coz that wheel does have some similarities to the 'CS' series wheel and pedals from Fanatec previously.

On to the next disappointment, I'm after an xbone controller for use with windows 7/8... when will MS release the 'wireless USB receiver for windows' or is the controller forever going to be on a usb cable tether...
