Announced at E3, the slimline Xbox One S is all set to hit our shores on August 2 with a special 2TB launch edition for $549. Not only 40% smaller than the original Xbox One, the S also does away with the clunky power brick of old as it features a built-in power supply. Plus, support for 4K video and HDR. That being High Dynamic Range. The good stuff.
The controller has also been re-designed to include a textured grip, as seen in the limited edition Lunar White controller from a while back. In addition to the price and release date for the Xbox One S, Microsoft has also confirmed that a Gears of War 4 special edition Xbox One S console is also in the works, due for release on October 7 for $599.
At this stage it looks like Australia will only be getting the 2TB version of the Xbox One S at launch. With Microsoft to let us know when the 500GB and 1TB versions of the console are due.
