Starting today, members of the Xbox Preview Program are able to update their controllers to the latest preview build. The latest firmware update, which pushes the software to version 1.2.2236.0, adds several improvements to the Xbox One's controller functionality.
This new update makes controllers connect to their paired console faster, taking the 4-5 second connection time down to around 2 seconds. The new update also addresses a number of smaller issues as brought up by Xbox One owners and Xbox Preview Program participants.
Those Xbox Preview Program members who want to update their controllers to this version can do so by connecting their Xbox One controllers to their consoles using a USB cable while keeping any headsets that they use plugged into the controller. From there, you can navigate to "Devices & accessories" under the settings menu and select "Update."
The Xbox Preview Program is an invitation-only program that allows for Xbox owners to gain special early access to new versions of the Xbox operating system and software updates prior to them being made available to the general public. There is currently no date given for when the new controller firmware update will be made available to all Xbox One owners.
