Microsoft has announced that the long-awaited October system update is now available on all Xbox One systems, adding a variety of features to the console including DLNA and MKV support.

The Major Nelson blog from Xbox Live's Larry Hryb detailed the changes today, which are designed to "take advantage on the multitasking capabilities of Xbox One and connect with your friends in better ways than before." Snap has been updated for users who like to switch quickly between apps and games, with Friends, Messages and Achievement Apps optimized. New SmartGlass features have also been added.

TV and video utilities have been changed including Media Player DLNA and MKV support, a OneGuide live TV MiniGuide, Universal Remote Control in SmartGlass and simplified live TV initial initial setup. Xbox One's devices and accessories page has been updated, while password manager has also been improved.

Major Nelson said the changes were in response to player feedback. You can get the full list here.
