Those anxious to get their hands on the early software development kits for Microsoft' next-gen Kinect can now apply for a license before its official release in 2014. Microsoft are accepting applications now on their official website through July 31 at 9AM PT, with a large $400 price tag for the early kits.

Those successful in gaining entry to the early offer will find the early kits contain a pre-release/alpha sensor but also a final, release sensor upon launch. Developers will also gain access to the Kinect for Windows engineering team via a private forum and exclusive webcasts plus early SDK access which includes your standard updates along the way. Private access to all API and sample documentation is also included in the price tag.

There are a limited number of spots and the program begins in November so for those eager to try out this new tech you'll need to signup rather quickly over here.
