Currently, streaming games via Xbox Game Pass Cloud Gaming is done via accessing an Xbox server powered by Xbox One S hardware in one of the many Azure data centres found across the world. Today comes word that these data centres running the cloud-side of Xbox Game Pass are being upgraded with Xbox Series X hardware -- which, for titles supporting the next-gen console, can offer up higher resolutions and faster frame-rates.

Of course, when it comes to cloud gaming the higher the resolution and the higher the frame-rate -- the faster and more stable a connection you’ll need. Namely a steady low-latency 20-mbit or higher direct feed to that cloud goodness. That said, this upgrade was inevitable -- but with high profile releases like Halo Infinite on the cards for later this year, and Xbox Game Pass Coming to both Smart TVs and Windows 10 PCs -- there’s definitely room in some markets for that high-end 4K streaming.

Oh, and yeah. As per the headline this upgrade arrives just in time for us in Australia -- with Xbox Game Pass Cloud Gaming set to hit our shores officially sometime later this year.
