What's Smart Delivery? Well, it's all about buying the game once and getting to play the best possible version of it no matter the hardware. For example those who already own Gears 5 on Xbox One will get access to the Xbox Series X enhanced version on day one. The same applies to games due for release later this year - including Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It's a very cool initiative.

In the case of Cyberpunk 2077, when the next-gen console version of the game is released Series X players will be automatically updated to that version. Prior to that, thanks to the Xbox line's backwards capabilities, Cyberpunk will be fully playable on day one. And that's the reason it's called Smart Delivery -- the game recognises the platform (or vice versa) and downloads and installs the correct version for you to play.

Here's the list of Smart Delivery games announced so far -- with more to be revealed soon.
  • Halo Infinite
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Destiny 2
  • DiRT 5
  • Scarlet Nexus
  • Chorus
  • Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon
  • The Ascent
  • Call of the Sea
  • Gears 5
  • Second Extinction
  • Metal: Hellslinger
