Developer Team 12 Digital has today announced that their iconic Worms series will see a return to the new-gen console with the launch of Worms Battleground come May 30th.
In Worms Battlegrounds, players suit up worm soldiers with their choice of weapons and items and attempt to eviscerate an opposing team. The game includes a level editor, single-player campaign with 25 story missions and 10 "Worm-Ops" time-attack missions, as well as multiplayer options for up to four in local and online battles. Multiplayer is available in modes such as Deathmatch and Classic.
"A particularly cool thing is that if we were in a clan together we could — for the first time — play controlling the same team," Team 17 Digital representative Bethany Aston wrote on the PlayStation Blog. "I'd take control of two of the worms, and so would you."
Team 17 is also introducing clans, allowing players to create and customise their group of strong worm brethren in the fight against death. You'll be able to create your own emblem as well to ensure everyone knows exactly who you are at a glance, and by participating in matches you'll earn community points to further grow your clan.
Worms Battleground will be available come May 30th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
