All done and wrapped is the Open Beta for World of Tanks and after 6500 games I can still rate it (see my review) as a 7.8.

But wait, there's more:

- Premium tanks for those players who registered using special Closed Beta Test keys (M3 Stuart and Valentine) are to be assigned (extra slot included).
- Closed Beta Test participants registered prior to January 27, 2011 00:00:00 UTC with 1,000 or more battles played according to profile statistics are to be rewarded with M4A2E4 gift tank (extra slot included).
- Social contacts are to be removed (friends and ingnore lists).
- Registered clans and their members are to be carried over to the release.
- Hardwipe / full reset is to be performed: experience, gold, credits, research progress, modules, equipment, achievements and medals are to be reset.

Post-release, there will be no free in-game gold - it will cost USD$6.95 for 1250, USD$14.95 for 3000, or USD$99.95 for 25000.

Don't forget though, the game will be free to download and play, you don't have to buy gold. Progress through the ranks will be slow - but what do you expect for free?

And now is a good time to stop playing it.

Hard wipe blows. And they want us to pay them irl money for gold, pass. Don't particularly want to be stuck in a tier 5 tank...

I'll be playing for a bit with my shiny tier 5 reward (Though I didn't get a valentine or stuart which sucks (Only for the free slot + credits for selling them though)

I don't think I'll be paying any gold though, at least not until clan wars comes into play.

You can quite easily get up to tier 7 and play without losing money for free, which is good. The lower tier tanks are more fun anyway.

I hope they change their team allocation settings. I cant see the point in tier2 tanks going up against tier8 and 9 tanks. I know they try and balance the overall effect of each team but the little guys simply have zero chance against the bigger stuff.

ET the matchmaker operates on a roughly 4 tier spread, tier 1/2 will NEVER come against more than tier 5 unless the tier 1/2 player is in a platoon with high tier players.

Whats a M5 Stuart in WOT ?
They seem really, really small and I've seen them lots of times on servers which have Maus and IS7's. Of course, with the day I'm having, I could be wrong :)

The M5 Stuart is a light tank (Tier IV) which can be placed in Tier 10 battles because it is a scout.

If all the players joined for battle weren't platooned (grouped) then they would never meet a Tier 10. But because many are platooned they will see them. This is also why Tier 1s platooned with higher tiers get into battles with Tier 10. The system does take into account their level but won't put another Tier 1 (it's equivalent) on the other side. So the other team is discounted overall which is quite irrelevant because a Tier 5 won't have trouble with a Tier 1.

The wiki explains it better though;

I get an A32 as part of my pre-order.

VTEC just kicked in, yo.

I'm aiming to unlock the T-54 eventually. A bastard of a medium tank, that one. Will be grinding for ages to get the points up.

I'll pretty much get all the top tanks...except SPGs. I don't like SPGs because not many people play them properly.

Yeah SPG's aren't worth it anymore, except for maybe a tier 2 for lolspam matches.

I'll be going up russian heavies again I think, with maybe american mediums. Not sure, yet.

Is the T54 still about the best medium? Stats wise it looks that way to me, but I never got past the T34-85.

Technically the pershing is the best going by the stats, but there are far more t54's out there.

I just compared the stats, the Pershing's best gun certainly does more damage than the T54's best, but otherwise the T54 seems better armored, faster and more manoeuverable. The description says something about better aiming time and recoil in the Pershing, though.

They were quite unbalanced early on, so small that Maus' had trouble hitting them at close range. The 5x XP helped that and alot of people got into them

I wish there was a minimum distance involved in a tanks ability to fire.
eg: Small light tank is inside / underneath it's fire arc an unless it was willing to drop HE ontop of itself, it's s*** out of luck.

I honestly can't imagine that being difficult to code, with only slightly more complexity for proximity to buildings.

If you're going to get that serious, the gun's barrel should be an object, and stop traversing if it meets a building, tree or whatever. That'd change fighting in dense forest or built up areas.

^ Fair point and I considered what I really meant after the post and to be honest, I'm ok with it not being affected by environment (eg buildings, trees).

More accurately I mean, physically can't fire at an object closer than the end of the barrel.
StopShootingMe

Yeah agreed, but actually I think the barrel should stick on objects. It annoys me when it goes through walls and stuff.
