And the first title from WolfEye Studios, a team comprised of ex-Arkane veterans that had a hand in creating both Dishonored and Prey. With it's wild west setting and isometric viewpoint Weird West looks and sounds fascinating, and unlike any traditional action-RPG we've seen before.
As per this developer walkthrough, Raphael Colantonio notes, "Simultation is like a religion to us, it is in our DNA to let the players play their own way".
Survive and unveil the mysteries of the Weird West through the intertwined destinies of its unusual heroes in an immersive sim from the co-creators of Dishonored and Prey.
Discover a dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures. Journey through the origin stories of a group of atypical heroes, written into legend by the decisions you make in an unforgiving land. Each journey is unique and tailored to the actions taken - a series of high stakes stories where everything counts and the world reacts to the choices you make. Form a posse or venture forth alone into an otherworldly confines of the Weird West and make each legend your own.
In the video we learn how player choice not only shapes the world and combat but also the narrative. Having someone escape mid-battle might lead to a story-based ambush later on, and deciding to rob a store will have a long-lasting impact that you wont be able to recover from. Literally, in that there's no option to load a saved state from before your descent into crime. No release date has been set, but we now know that Devolver Digital will be publishing - adding another indie feather to its feather-stacked cap.
