The animation also shows how quickly PUBG rose to the top, as well as how big releases like Fallout 4 and The Division appear, rise, and then slowly drop off.
Plus a few blink and you'll miss them appearances like No Man's Sky.
Although it's sad to see Team Fortress 2's popularity fall gradually over the years. The animation captures the daily Top 15 Steam Player Count numbers from January 1, 2015 and then quickly runs through four years worth of data. Where you can more clearly see the Evolve Closed Beta in the list very early on, and then disappear. Another interesting one is that Warframe appears in the list throughout (never at or near the top) showcasing it's recent history as a steady performer.
