Developer Deck13's last game, Lords of the Fallen, was very much a Dark Souls clone. A gritty, tough, action RPG set in a fantasy world. But it was also pretty good so people didn't mind that it liberally borrowed elements from, err, From Software's classic. Because hey, more Dark Souls is never a bad thing. With its next game though, Dark13 is taking the same methodology to the future with The Surge. Click through for an early gameplay demo.

Coming next year, what we see here is still from an early build of the game, but already its exo-suit action looks pretty impressive. Developer Deck13 is clearly aiming a lot higher with The Surge as it looks to include a number on new elements, from limb targeting, through to more open level design. Plus, giant robots.
