With this, the upcoming Diablo 2 Resurrected remaster, and Diablo 4, you could say that it's a great time to be a fan of isometric action-RPGs. Path of Exile 2 from the New Zealand-based Grinding Gear Games is the highly anticipated sequel to the still very popular Diablo-inspired original.
In this new slice of gameplay, narrated by the developers, we get a glimpse at the seemingly action-RPG staple that is the desert-based Act II. That aside the new next-gen visuals, animation, and combat here looks very very good. Again, it's a great time to be an action-RPG fan.
Taking place in the Vastiri Desert, we also see how weapons and skills and augments work in the sequel. Though hearing exactly what type of arrows are being used feels a bit much.
Everything else though -- yeah, pretty great.
Path of Exile 2 is a new seven-act storyline that is available alongside the original Path of Exile 1 campaign. Both the old and new storyline lead to the same shared Atlas endgame. Path of Exile 2 retains all expansion content that has been created over the last six years and introduces a new skill system, ascendancy classes, engine improvements and more.
As per the description above, Path of Exile 2 is both a direct sequel and something that will incorporate elements from the first game. Although what we see here looks impressive the game is still a ways off from release, with the current plan being to release a Beta version for testing sometime in 2022.
