Atomic Heart from developer Mudfish is a Soviet-era shooter set in a mysterious and strange underground facility - full of impressively bizarre fauna, environments, and cool retro sci-fi facilities. The title, which is still a little while off, was also recently featured by NVIDIA as part of an RTX showcase. This new pre-alpha 10 minute walkthrough definitely shows of its ambition.
Check it out.
But also, just how rough it still is performance-wise. With a very choppy frame-rate and motion blur that does little to make it a comfortable viewing experience. That said, the art direction plus the mix of different environments all of the strange creatures both familiar and robotic - make this one we're definitely keen to see more of. The combat and setup also gives off a BioShock, Half-Life 2, and Stalkker vibe.
In the game players take control of a KGB agent sent to investigate facility 3826. There's a surreal quality to the game too, one that even though we've been making comparisons to other classic first-person titles - makes Atomic Heart feel very much like its own thing. The game also plans to include multiplayer across both PvP and PvE modes. But, the game is still a while off with a planned beta expected late this year - with an as yet to be determined PC, PS4, and Xbox One release window.
