As promised, Rockstar has released the first actual gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto V, explaining that "this particular video was captured from the PS3 version of the game" (thanks Deviouz).
Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.
Watch the trailer below.

Grand Theft Auto V is due on September 17th 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and there's still no word on other potential platforms.

Yea I agree, it does look really good. That said though, until there is a PC release being talked about - I'm with Trauma and my care factor will remain 0.

Wasn't expecting switching between the three characters to be so dynamic, I thought it'd just be like you play one character's story, then the next, then the next, etc.

Everything is looking mighty fine. Wonder if they've optimised the PlayStation 3 version to be on par with Xbox 360 unlike Red Dead or GTA4 which suffered some considerable changes. I know I should wait for the PC version, but I am really tempted to grab a PlayStation 3 for this and Last of Us.

I wonder what the hardware was for the trailer, a 360 or better spec'd dev equipment. What sort of frames can we expect?

I am willing to bet money that Rockstar have a similar plan to the following:

Release GTA5 on 360 and PS3. Profit, greatly. Runs at about 30FPS looks pretty good.

Tweak engine, release it on next Gen hardware. XBone and PS4 as GTA5 Enhanced Edition. Same game but much better graphics at 60fps. Profit, greatly, again. A significant portion of people who bought it for 360/PS3 will buy it again for Xbone/PS4. No backwards compatibility.

After all the nashing of teeth, they will finally release it on PC and milk the last few millions from it.

Any takers?

Yeah, may get lucky and have the next gen and pc released at the same time, but doubtful.

Also I noticed with the hunting zoomed in scope, there was a wind direction and speed. I wonder if long range sniper shots need you to take into account wind as well as bullet drop. That could make for some pretty fun longest range sniper shot stuffs.

Yup, I'm sold I think.

Dunno about next-gen but every GTA has delayed the PC release by roughly 6 months.

Swapping between characters looks cooler than I expected, but I dunno, in the end, it still just looks like another GTA game...

I don't mind waiting for the PC version, it'll be worth the wait. Hope Rockstar puts a firstperson view in the game this time.

/nod, and for their crimes against the PC they should give us mod tools.

I doubt they will give mod tools due to the online component especially if they have ladders. Agreed with most, care factor Zero until PC release.

I can't say I'm very excited about controlling three characters, it could get pretty annoying. I was actually hoping to be able to play the role of a cop & climb the ranks etc. Start as a cop on the beat & club drug dealers, then work my way up to be a detective & solve murders & big crime. All the while having the temptation of being corrupted, or going along the straight & narrow to bring down a cartel or something...

The game looks great, but will it be much different in terms of gameplay?
