After revealing their take on virtual reality last week during the Game Developers Conference, Sony's Project Morpheus presentation is now live in video format for viewing pleasure.
In the hour-long presentation, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida introduces the long-rumoured device, detailing a few internal specs. In terms of system specifications, the presentation noted that the current prototype has a 1080p display with a 90 degree field of view, and will use both the PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move for precision input.
With a quite stark black and white look, the prototype is expected exclusively for PlayStation 4, though Sony hasn't given any official word on whether we may see PC support in the future. No release date has yet been painted for the device, though Yoshida did respond with a "soon as possible" comment during the presentation.
From memory, it's 90 horizontal, and 110 diagonal. Apparently this is sufficient.
(They can refer to FOV in 2 ways here though. How the image is displayed on the screens, or how far the screens span your vision. I'd expect it's the latter when they refer to hardware but I've seen nothing specific on their meaning)
I'm interested in getting it, but I have selective vision, which means my eyes focus on things separately, so I'm worried it won't work for me properly.
