Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is out this September, and as part of Summer Game Fest we got our first proper look at gameplay from developer Fatshark's follow-up to the brilliant co-op action game Warhammer Vermintide 2. And with that game's melee system brought over the the Space Marine world of 40K, the various blades are joined by firearms.

And it looks awesome. Check it out.

Take back the city of Tertium from hordes of bloodthirsty foes in this intense and brutal action shooter. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is the new co-op focused experience from the award-winning team behind the Vermintide series.

In the depths of the hive, the seeds of corruption threaten to turn into an overwhelming tide of darkness. A mysterious and sinister new force is seeking to take control of the entire city. It is up to you and your allies in the Inquisition to root out the enemy before the city succumbs to Chaos.

As Tertium falls, Rejects Will Rise.

With the game coming to consoles and PC, the latter is set to step things up visually with ray-traced reflections and RTX Global Illumination (RTXGI) for realistic lighting.

As an action-heavy co-op shooter, to keep performance on par with fidelity Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will also feature NVIDIA DLSS and NVIDIA Reflex. The former providing a massive boost to performance and the latter reducing system latency for responsive controls.

As for the gameplay we get to see above, yeah it's all impressive stuff - and with its colourful cast of playable characters Fatshark notes that you'll be able to customise their physical appearance, voice, and origin. This one has been in development for quite some time now, with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide set to finally launch on September 14.
