Warhammer 40,000: Darktide developer Fatshark has issued an open letter stating that the game has "fell short of meeting expectations", and that the focus for the next few months for the team will be to address player feedback. This means seasonal content is being delayed alongside the Xbox Series X|S version of the game, and even premium cosmetics are being temporarily shelved.

As per above Fatshark writes, "Over the next few months, our sole focus is to address the feedback that many of you have. In particular, we will focus on delivering a complete crafting system, a more rewarding progression loop, and continue to work on game stability and performance optimization."

This covers many of the issues players have faced with the game, with stability and performance being a concern for those not running the game on a high-end PC, and the incomplete crafting system seen as a "work in progress".

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is the spiritual successor to the excellent Warhammer: Vermintide series from Fatshark. Inspired by the four-player co-op action of the Left 4 Dead series it was a highly anticipated release for many, so launch issues and incomplete features were met with criticism and concern.

Interestingly the player count for Darktide is only marginally higher than Vermintide 2 on Steam, which points to an uphill battle to get the game in a better state. Darktide is also available on Xbox Game Pass on PC (PC Game Pass), though it doesn't support crossplay with the Steam version. Here's hoping that gets addressed too.
