As with all major releases the upcoming co-op shooter and spiritual successor to the excellent Vermintine games Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will scale across a wide range of hardware. But for 60fps 1080p performance on Medium settings, with NVIDIA DLSS or AMD's FSR, you'll need a GeForce RTX 3060, GeForce RTX 2060, or Radeon 6800XT. Crank things up to 4K, turn on ray-tracing, and the recommended GPU changes to the new GeForce RTX 4080.
We reviewed NVIDIA's latest yesterday, saying that it's "a true 4K crank-the-settings triple-digit-fps powerhouse". And for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide which supports RTXGI and raytraced reflections, you'll need the power of the new GeForce RTX 4080 with DLSS 3 Frame Generation to play in 4K with a frame rate of around 100 fps. This is surprising considering you're looking at a brand-new high-end graphics card.
Developer Fatshark has posted a massive break-down of the game's tech and cutting-edge visual features in a new post, highlighting that it has taken great steps to ensure the game makes use of modern processors and graphics hardware. And that no matter the visual settings selected, performance across the board should be solid.
On the NVIDIA side, there's DLSS 3 - which includes DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex - and on the AMD side, there's FSR 2. For ray-tracing, it's interesting that only NVIDIA GPUs are listed. In the NVIDIA GeForce trailer above we can see the full effect of ray-traced Global Illumination and reflections. And after experiencing both in the recent beta, the effect is similar to that of Remedy's Control. Where it just looks and feels more cinematic - and by that same token, more immersive.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is out at the end of the month on PC, with consoles to follow in 2023. It's also coming to PC Game Pass.
