Courtenay played Jack in Mass Effect 2 and 3, Ada Wong in Resident Evil 6, Val in Evolve and is Wonder Woman in Justice League Heroes. She's also the main player-created female lead in this year's fully voiced Fallout 4, and we had a chance to chat with her about her role in the game and the process of recording for a post-apocalyptic world.
Here's Courtenay's more recent list of characters:
- Female Player in Fallout 4
- Jack in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3
- Ada Wong in Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, and Resident Evil: Damnation
- Audrey and Starla in Regular Show
- Female Player in the upcoming Firefly Online game
- Val in Evolve
- Juhani in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
- Hex & KnightMare in Skylanders
- Wonder Woman in Justice League Heroes
And here's a snippet from our interview:
AusGamers: Does working on a product centred around post-apocalyptia ever get depressing?
Courtenay: You know, it’s interesting, because this game seems to have a different sort of take on that. I think it’s been reinforced by my initial thoughts, but this is not about the shock and horror of the apocalypse. It’s about creating something after that. That’s a foregone conclusion for this game, and now it’s what do you do, what do you make, how do you live after that. To me, there’s the potential for a lot of hope and new growth, and I think that’s what makes the game cool. It is not just focusing on it, though it is a hard thing. When I was a kid, I used to be really…when you get that idea that someone could blow the world up or that a bomb could go off, that is a terrifying concept to anyone. But this idea, you get to go in and make it a whole world. That concept of rebirth is refreshing to me, and hopeful, and full of possibilities.
