During a keynote speech at the New York Games for Change conference happening right now,
Joystiq asked Valve's Gabe Newell about his thoughts on the recently unveiled Nintendo Wii U.
"Wii U seems to be a lot more powerful than the previous generation," he responded. "It sort of fits better into the scalability in terms of graphics performance and CPU performance, so I think it'll be a lot easier for us to fit it into our scalability model. We've always loved Nintendo."
While most of the world still scratches their head at Wii U, knowing there are progressive studios like Valve looking at it gives us hope we may see some cool stuff from it yet.
"Now it's a lot easier to look at Wii U and have it fit within [our] framework," he added.

It'd be absolutely awesome to see Steam on all of the consoles in an actual useful capacity.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I'm not sure Nintendo is really invested in the serious gamers like they have made out.

As long as the three big consoles from now on are pretty close in their capabilities, I'll be happy, as that means there's likely to be plenty of choice no matter what platform you go with (though I'm likely to just buy all of them).

For the price point of 350 dollars, that's not bad and will tide a lot of people over for the 12-18 months I'd expect a new xbox or ps4 to be released in.
