The awards show itself may lack meaning, but games publishers do like using the spectacle of the annual Spike VGAs to show off new announcements and debut more trailers for their hotly anticipated titles.
Annoyingly, as the awards are an MTV affair, all the trailers from the show are currently exclusive to GameTrailers until tomorrow and their habit of shittily transcoding everything they host has taken the sheen off most of what we have to report on today.
One exception however, is this new clip from Uncharted developer Naughty Dog, who have also released the debut trailer for their freshly announced game The Last of Us via their own media channels:
The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Abandoned cities are being reclaimed by nature and the remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.
While not exactly gameplay, the new trailer purports to be all real-time rendered on the PS3. Check it out embedded below or click here for the HD video page.
I know what kind of Zombie game people want (well at least I do) is a game similar to Jagged Alliance, however real time. Starting off as a single survivor with no food and equipment and gradually working your way to becoming almost self sufficient (with great effort).
As that becomes the norm you then start to gather other survivors who you then need to assign tasks in order to keep the small camp running better whilst exploring the greater surroundings.
As this is happening the Zombie hoard is gaining in number and more advanced, dangerous zombies are starting to appear whilst easily obtainable food is dwindling forcing the encampent to have to start growing their own food. The people in teh camp may or may not get along and you will need to deal with that too.
Eventually the zombie hoards are getting extreamly dangerous, by this time you have ammased a sizeable community, equipment and food and you then set out to control the zombie population giving your community a much safer habital zone.
turn-based RPG combat similar to Fallout and Fallout 2 paired with X-COM’s base management. You’re the leader of a group of survivors that’ve holed up in Splendid Elementary School in Texas.
Stop, they have sold me right there. Cheers Fracture.

Not sure of the endgame part though.
