Called Ubisoft Stockholm, the new studio will be led by Patrick Bach who you might know as the now former GM of EA DICE. The new studio plans to grow to a team of over 100 people within the next two years, and will join Ubisoft Massive (also in Sweden) on future projects like the upcoming Avatar game. Which I guess, is still a thing.

Anyway this is huge news for Ubisoft, further cementing itself as one of the biggest developers and publishers in the business. "I am thrilled to be joining the Ubisoft family, where I feel I will be able to use my experience in the game industry in a new and different way. My goal has always been to create the best possible gaming experiences for players. When talking to Ubisoft about what we value most, it was clear that we share the same passion for nurturing teams’ creativity with that goal in mind", said Patrick Bach, Studio Manager, Ubisoft Stockholm.

Ubisoft’s cross-studio collaboration is renowned for including teams from all over the world working together on creating AAA experiences. As the new studio is located in Stockholm, they'll be a short plane trip from Massive in Malmö, which is also planning to grow by another 200 people over the next two years.

"I am confident that Patrick Bach’s leadership skills, his desire to nurture the passion and creativity of the people he works with, and the attraction of Ubisoft’s renowned brands will encourage world-class talent to join Ubisoft Stockholm. The combination of these different elements will lay strong foundations for the new studio, enabling the team to focus on the quality and innovation of the games they create, and grow to become one of the best studios in the world." said David Polfeldt, Managing Director at Massive Entertainment.

Yeah, this is great news for developers everywhere. To check out all the job openings at Ubisoft Stockholm, head here.

Oh, and Ubisoft. If you're reading this, how about a Ubisoft Melbourne? It just rolls off the tongue doesn't it. Make it happen.
