Coinciding with the release of the final bit of content for
Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the gaming giant has confirmed that Assassin's Creed, Anno and Roller Champions will be making their way back to the Steam platform. Ubisoft famously pulled sales of its games from Valve's platform back in 2019 in favour of its own Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store.
The Verge (via
VGC) shared a statement from Ubisoft on the soft reconnect with Steam that stated:
We’re constantly evaluating how to bring our games to different audiences wherever they are, while providing a consistent player ecosystem through Ubisoft Connect.
The news isn't a wholesale return to the platform for Ubi, with only Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800 and Roller Champions coming back. However, this might be a test phase, or a rekindling of relations with Valve since Ubi's departure from Steam whose model it once declared "unrealistic".
We'll have more as soon as it's available.
