If the original game was proof of concept then Assassin's Creed II was the realisation of the premise. Released in 2009 it introduced the world to assassin extraordinaire Ezio Auditore da Firenze in an epic adventure through (at the time) stunning classical Italian locales. And now
Ubisoft is offering everyone a copy of
Assassin's Creed II Deluxe Edition on PC (
via Uplay) for the low cost of nothing.
Be sure to get in quick as the offer expires on Friday. As per
our review of the original release.
Assassin's Creed II not only tackles all the issues we had with the first, but does so in context. That sounds weird, but in the wake of story developments right from the outset (things pick up immediately where you left them in the first game), everything falls intelligently into place.
The Deluxe Edition includes additional post-release maps highlighting real-world locations from the Renaissance era - including the Palazzo Medici in Florence. Best of all, being a classic from over a decade ago you'll only need a "GeForce 8800 GT or ATI Radeon HD 4700 or better" to run it.
