Remember Avatar? The James Cameron sci-fi epic that made 3D cinema a thing and broke all box office records over a decade ago? Well, we wouldn't be surprised if you had. As a franchise it has been overshadowed in recent years by Star Wars and all things Marvel. But hey, with Jimmy C cooking up several movie sequels Ubisoft is prepping Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora for release in 2022.
Developed by Massive, the studio behind The Division and the upcoming Ubisoft Star Wars game, Avatar has been designed exclusively for next-gen hardware - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. Check it out.
In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.
As per above the setting introduces a new part of Pandora, as seen in the 2009 film, in what will be a first-person open-world action-adventure. Avatar is being developed by Ubisoft's Massive in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.
Although the trailer is light on gameplay, it does present a highly detailed world -- full of life, colour, and blue aliens trying their best to avoid humans.
Worth mentioning whether you care about Avatar or not that the next open-world Star Wars game, coming from Ubi, is going to be using the same game-engine as this
