Speaking to investors following release of the company's latest financial results, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that Watch Dogs, the new open world action franchise revealed to much acclaim at E3 this year, is scheduled for release in 2013 (via
Joystiq):
"Watch Dogs will be coming next year," Guillemot said, in reference to the AAA titles Ubisoft has scheduled for 2013.
It's unclear which platforms the launch date refers to, but the impressive footage shown at E3 was reportedly running on PC, and the Ubi exec made mention that several Ubisoft titles are in simultaneous development for both current and next-gen consoles (via
CVG):
"For the first two years [of next gen development], because we are making our games on next gen and old gen at the same time, we expect the overall [development] costs will not increase. We don't know about the third year, when we will take full advantage of the capacity of the consoles."
Ubisoft has previously mentioned a desire to see the game on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and Wii U is also seems likely.
