Presumably bringing forward their announcement after the recent leak, Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is indeed the title of the next game in the popular stealth action series, with a swashbuckling pirate in the lead role.
Packshots for the game confirm PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U platforms, and Ubisoft tells us that they will "announce all the details" on Monday March 4th at 6pm Paris time (next Tuesday morning here in Australia).
The rumours that surrounded the previously leaked artwork identified the protagonist as Edward Kenway, grandfather of Assassin's Creed 3's Conor, and claimed the game would be set in the 18th century Caribbean, exploring locations including Florida, Havana, and Kingston.

Ehh, I doubt it. That's the part of the game they're slowly adding to and fleshing out more. It's kind of the whole base for the story so I can't see them ever getting rid of it.

Yea I always understood it was going to be a trilogy, but AC4 is going back in time a bit. Feels like they're milking it, but I'm keen for some swashbuckling.

Yeah, they seem to be smashing them out lately. AC1+2 i enjoyed but brotherhood on PC has bad mouse controls for me - low sensitivity and acceleration IIRC. Havent tried any of the newer games but want to.

They release COD:modern warfare titles in between COD:black ops titles, so that you can COD while you COD.
