Eurogamer reports that Ubisoft are asking for public direction in where, and when, to set the next Assassin's Creed title (presumably 2013's update).

According to the report, a survey was offered to a group that featured the following scenarios for them to choose from:
  • The violent conflicts of the Imperial Dynasties in Medieval China
  • The advent of the mighty British Empire during Victorian England
  • The culmination of the Pharaoh Reign in Ancient Egypt
  • The invasion of the Americas by the Spanish Conquistadors
  • The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during The American Revolution
  • The overthrow of the Tsar Empire by the Communists during the Russian Revolution
  • The Warlord Battles in Feudal Japan
  • The rise of Cesar's Empire in Ancient Rome
Some of these have already had seeds laid within the series, such as Egypt, Medieval China and Russian Revolution era err, Russia (as depicted in the book The Fall and The Chain).

Personally, I'd be happy with Ancient Rome, Feudal Japan or Medieval China.

I'm hoping for China, Japan or the Americas. Mainly because they are all distinctly different from what we've already seen in the series.

Give us a shield and throw us in the collusseum occasionally. That'll make for interesting gameplay. Good opportunity for use of chariots too. Assassination plots on a nightly basis, too.

Anyone else notice that while the game is called assassin's creed you never assassinate anyone? You can never get a surprise kill on them, they always see you/run away/fight back/call guards. Been what? 4 games and they still insist on making targets do 1 of those 4 things.

Japan or Rome would be awesome. Medieval China too, they should just do all of them.

You need to play more. At least a third of the time, if you're doing it right, it's a silent, unseen assassination.

They have no idea what they are doing with this series it seems.

They should finish off the modern day story line ffs.

Twice I've tried to kill enemies during a scripted sequence / cutscene - not knowing it was such a sequence. Basically he does an aerial attack, then the trademark knock-down + stab in the neck, but they get back up and then the mission fails - even though it's not a silent mission and you're allowed to kill them in public.

F*****g console ports.

I was hoping for japan or china for the next one, some crouching tiger hidden dragon ninja action

Kind of a shame they're doing this, goes to show how little of their story they have mapped out if they don't even know where it's set

We'll probably see every single one of those settings in the future games, so it probably doesn't matter which one is chosen. That right there is the future of the game.

Kill off the series and start a new one, it's getting boring and stale.

I've had my reservations about getting in to these games, because the story looks like it's not finished yet and there appears to be no conclusion in sight. News like this is even worse. Seems like they've got themselves into a corner and have nfi what to do next with the story.

Think I'll pass. Probably wont make it on pc anyway, too much piracy.

Put them together, china's interaction with japan was always gruesome!

You're stupid. They're basically as they call them "Cycles".

Each story begins and ends at the beginning and end of each game. The overarching plot between them ties it into the "assassins creed" world.

You'd be laughed at if you said "Not going to play skyrim because I didn't play elder scrolls 1-4".

Hrm I have noticed that I've "silently killed" only a few of the main 'boss' characters. Sometimes off a rooftop or run in and caught them in an off guard and hidden dagger them (disengaging combat and assassinating people is my main form of entering combat, double kill, disengage, double kill before swords are swung at you).

But I think you misunderstand the word assassin. An assassin is someone pretty much with a contract to kill someone.

You're thinking of ninjas?

Ah, from what I was told it sounded like each game left questions unanswered that were supposed to be resolved in the sequel, then each following game asked more questions without the answers. Not good at selling the game to me they were!

I think this is for the game thats going to be after the sequal of revelations cause they said it'd be pointless to release a game about 2012 if its already passed. That aside, i think japan or china would be nice.

^^ yeah it would have to be a game set after ac3. i can't see them getting a whole new game out in a year if they haven't already decided on a story/setting.

I believe that image was for a new comic. I could be mistaken that is what I thought I read.

There's plenty of overarching story that combines the games, with each trinket of information being released in each new game.

I haven't played revelations but perhaps something important happened during that, the "Desmond cycle" has been overlaid over the top of all the assassin creed PC/PS3/360 games so far.

I thought they were going to wrap it up but I didn't read a single review of revelations, only the score which was a little low for my expectations, that and skyrim/BF3/MW3/arkham asylum all came out at a time where I think assassins creed 2: revelations was released iirc? meaning that I chose better games first lol.

I'd say give the second game a whirl, it catches you up the first game and is much much more polished in many ways over ac1
