Turok is back, in remaster form with the release of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil for PC. For those that remember their late '90s shooters, Turok 2 is the one with the cool explodey bow and a weapon called the Cerebral Bore that shot little flying metal balls that then proceeded to drill into the skulls of Turok's enemies -- the Dino Men! Yeah, simpler times. A flagship release for the N64, it also got a PC version back in 1998.
Now, we remember playing the N64 version which included a high-res mode thanks to the system's 4MB expansion pack, which bumped up the resolution to 640x480. But that came at a cost of a frame-rate somewhere in the teens. Coming from Nightdive Studios this remaster looks and feels very much like the original game but with a fancy new HD presentation that includes some minor improvements to the lighting and other effects. Plus, the added bonus of running at a rock solid frame-rate.
Check it out.
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is available to purchase at GOG.com and via Steam.
