The Damsel in Distress trope runs deep through the history of videogames, so much so, that after having had two discussions on the topic already, there's still more aspects to touch on, as Anita Sarkeesian's crowdfunded Tropes versus Women video series explores it again for a third time:
In this episode we examine the rare Dude in Distress role reversal and then take a look at the use of "ironic sexism" in retro inspired indie and mobile games. We conclude with an investigation of some titles that attempt to subvert or deconstruct the traditional damsel narrative.
Previous episodes can be found here and here. The next topic of discussion is expected to be the "Fighting F#@k Toy" trope.

All you needed to do was look at her older videos to see where this would end up.

Post from last month showing she's taking youtube Lets Play videos and using the footage from them without asking or giving credit for her resources. This also suggests shes not playing a lot of these so she has no context of the games.

Having a vagina and an opinion does not make you immune from legitimate criticism.

This individual is doing a disservice to the conversation that needs to be had about sexism in gaming. Her presentations are lazy, ill-informed and her conclusions are haphazard, poorly thought through and unsupported by evidence. She is acting like a lightning rod to bigots who try to diminish the importance of the discussion, by being a high profile example of all their bad stereotypes.

Can we please stop linking to this garbage? There are dozens if not hundreds of worthwhile videos and blogs on this topic all over the Internet that deserve our attention more than this person.

Oh and here is a little gem from her twitter feed that she of course deleted. Fortunately someone grabbed a screenshot.

She is wasting her time picking on games when Disney is far, far bigger and far far more damaging to women then anything any game has done so far.
