The race is on as to who will release first: Diablo 3 or Torchlight 2, and in the build up to the finish line, the Torchlight team have revealed a "top secret" piece of artwork that has been in development, leaving us wondering why they're worrying about this now, and not finishing the damn game! (Just kidding guys, obviously.)

"This is actually the second iteration of of this particular cover. The goal with this version was to more prominently feature our player classes in a very comic book style layout," explains concept artist, Kyle Cornelius. "The team has done an excellent job of creating a diverse group of heroes, each with unique personalities, and we thought it best that they be the focus."

Click here to grab yourself a copy of the artwork for desktop purposes, or the like, and click here for a better look at the artwork right here on AusGamers.

There's a race between Torchlighte 2 and Diablo 3?

I do love how passionate you are about it, but really.

It doesn't matter who releases first, Diablo 3 will win, and I am not* bias.

Of course there is a race/competition.

One has LAN, Co-Op, mods, offline play, no item shop (regardless of how you dress it up) and a very attractive price.

The other does not. Edit: Actually D3 does have online only co-op.

and one isn't backed by the largest publisher in the world, the most prestigious game designers, a massive and long lasting fan base, hype that has no comparison at all etc etc etc

i liked torchlight, but it isn't going to compete with d3.

Well if advertising budget and units sold are your only measure of quality and success then yea D3 will destroy it.

I'll give it a whirl if it comes out before D3, but D3 will definitely steal its thunder as soon as it comes out!

That's a very bad way to look at games. If you only decide which game to purchase based purely on the publisher (which let me remind you is actually Activision AND Blizzard), then I'm sorry you can't enjoy games!

I didn't mind the first Torchlight but I hate how you have to use the mouse button to move around. Why not just make it so you can use keys to walk? Same goes with Diablo.

Then how else are you meant to objectively compare games if not for units sold?

Even the special olympics only give medals to the fastest runner.
