Promoting the PlayStation 4, Sony has been showing off video recordings of stage demos presented at their E3 2013 booth, offering a look at gameplay footage that has previously only been seen by show attendees. The latest addition to their official youtube channel is Square Enix's much anticipated Thief, in development at Eidos Montreal.

Eidos Montreal Producer Stephane Roy walks through the stage demo, which runs about 10 minutes, showcasing a stealthy castle level, and an assortment of Garrett's thieving abilities and game mechanics, followed by an extensive Q&A with a PlayStation rep.

Watch the full video below.

Thief is due in 2014 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

It looks quite good, but I don't like this noob "focus" business.

Looks alright, didn't show the terrible guard AI since he never got caught.

Loved the call of duty jive. "Theif will also have next-gen dogs." Also rope arrow, f*** yeah, wanted one of those back in games since it last appeared in Dark Messiah

the rope arrow was in the latest tomb raider game.

It even shot into the same "white rope wrapped around wood" nodes.

So it's basically first person stealth Assassin's Creed?

Looks pretty good!

Why the Hell is he walking around with his hands up near his face and looking like he is about to do some magic tricks?

And does anyone else notice something weird about the way he opens doors?

Is it just me or do normal people open doors with their right hand if the dorr swings from the right and left for left swinging doors? It seem unnatural, did the animation team miss something?

The hands things is kind of ok, but yeah it often looks pretty awkward. I don't see the point of the power up thing when pick pocketing (previously you'd just nab things instantly, and it's not like the powerup gives time for the animation, because it doesn't seem to start until after you've pickpocketed).

It does sort of seem like it's trying to channel assassin's creed, which just isn't really Thief... Thief was more about the spooky first person detective thing in an intricate castle-city before.
