CD Projekt Red has announced that players can expect a meaty 4K update for its now all-time great open-world RPG The Witcher 3 for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. No word on the exact timing other than the update will come in the near future. Already a technical marvel we're excited to see what The Witcher 3 looks like running in 4K on console, and then succumb to replaying it again when that 'look' turns into 'many, many, hours' of looking.

Of course, as per the video below, if you're in possession of a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 then The Witcher 3 in 4K has been a reality on PC for a while now.

Although CD Projeckt Red originally stated that the PS4 Pro update was days away, that has since changed to 'sometime soon'. It'll be interesting to see how the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions stack up compared to the PC version with this new update.

Toussant looks amazing, we've come a long way from brown and grey Quake textures, though they were cool in their own way and for the time.

Been hanging for this in 4K on console. It's such a perfect couch game.

Now I just need a good 4K TV :P

But I'll be jumping in in my New Game Plus save. Time to add another 1000+ hours of game-time to it.
