Although the first game could be viewed as a sci-fi riff on the whole Dark Souls thing, as we discovered when playing The Surge 2 in beta form, the sequel is shaping up to be a far more rewarding experience. Literally, with blueprints and rewards given after you target specific body parts and then, err, remove them in a killing blow.
Want to get your own version of that helmet? Well, de-nogify that foe. This builds on a similar system seen in the original, but with better implementation. Combat in The Surge 2 is faster, more tactical, and even more accessible. With difficulty and challenge aplenty.
And it looks great too. The Surge 2 launches September 24 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
