As the spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie, from a small development studio mostly made up of ex-Rare employees from the N64-era no less, Yooka-Laylee is certainly a game we've been keeping an eye on. And with E3 around the corner developer Playtonic and publisher Team17 have revealed that Yooka-Laylee will launch Q1 2017 on PC and Consoles. And to celebrate we've got a new trailer that gives us an updated look at the game.
And it's coming along great! The look and feel is certainly reminiscent of classic 3D platformers from the'90s, and the music, art direction, and sound effects, are all classic Rare. Even the way the characters squeak and squawk along with the dialogue seems to be exactly the same as Banjo Kazooie. But, simply doing the same thing again isn't all that impressive, and thanks to the power of modern hardware the worlds, environments, and animations we see seem to be, err, worlds better than what we got back in the '90s.
