Over the weekend Sony held its annual PlayStation Experience event, also known as PSX. And it certainly didn't disappoint, with the announcement of not one but two new games from Naughty Dog -- The Last of Us Part II and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. But that was only the tip of the iceberg, as a number of games on the horizon either got shiny new trailers or were announced at the show. Click through for some of the video highlights.

In surprise announcement, mainly because the first game was seen by many as being mostly terrible, Sony actually confirmed the existence of Knack 2. Yeah, that crummy launch title that most of us forgot about. But hey, big ups to Sony for believing in a franchise and idea enough to green-light a sequel. And who knows, this might actually turn out to be pretty damn good.

Moving onto a game that needs no introduction, Horizon Zero Dawn. A title that we've seen a lot of, and have gone hands-on with a few times. It looks amazing, and this new trailer really only reinforces our hype for this 2017 PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Speaking of 2017, Gran Turismo Sport will be out sometime next year. We hope. The long in the works racing game from Polyphony Digital has seen a number of delays, and as the series has somewhat fallen behind the timely and excellent Forza games, there's a lot of pressure on the studio to ensure that this lives up to the hype.

It's been a while, but Ace Combat 7 looks to bring back the aerial combat series in style with fantastic Unreal Engine 4 visuals and even VR support.

For fans that are eagerly awaiting the release of the next Shenmue, they might want to point their radar device to the upcoming western releases of Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life from Sega. Both titles offer up cinematic action unlike anything else on the market.

Keeping the Japanese theme going comes Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, the sequel to the anime come to life original. Like the original the sequel features some wonderful animation and visuals, evoking some of the great anime we've seen over the years. With a dash of eastern RPG-style combat.

One of the more artistically impressive trailers from PSX was the new look at Vane, a fantasy adventure from ex-Team Ico developers. Apparently the story focuses on a boy who can transform into a bird, but in any case it looks amazing in motion -- beautiful even.

Sony's support of independent development has grown from strength to strength over the years, and many indie titles were present at PSX over the weekend. And many of them looked incredible, so we'll leave you with this -- an Indie Showcase montage. Because in this business of show, you always end in a montage.
