2016 is certainly going to be an interesting year for the Big N. For one we'll get to see the company dip their toes into the mobile scene, first with the Mii-focused effort Miitomo, and then later on with a more mascot-friendly release. Also the company is launching its new network which will consolidate accounts with a single My Nintendo interface. One that will give people the ability to purchase content from PC and mobile devices and send them directly to systems like the 3DS and Wii U.
Miitomo, which is not really a game but more of a communication app, is set for worldwide release next month (including Australia). And later in the month My Nintendo will launch, the new service which in addition to eShop access will include community events, points to earn, and rewards to unlock. There's no doubt that both the mobile release and the new network feels like a new unified direction for Nintendo, one that will no doubt play a part in the company's still very-mysterious console, Nintendo NX.
