It's true what they say, you learn something new everyday. With today's nugget of wisdom being that competitive farming is a thing. Apparently. Popular too - in Europe at least. With the new Farming Simulator League, born from the first season of the the Farming Simulator Championship. The new league will see teams across Europe compete in 10 tournaments with a sizable prize pool of 250.000€.

Here's over two hours of competitive Farming Simulator. A word of warning though, this is weird. Where collecting eight bales of hay in under two minutes is, err, entertaining stuff. Go team!



GIANTS Software is teaming up with Logitech G, Intel, and others for the Farming Simulator League. According to Christian Ammann, CEO of GIANTS Software and manager of the esports division, competitive farming represents "a unique opportunity". And how! Adding, "competitive farming is something people enjoy for years now, but it hasn’t been done in esports so far. We have lots of esports enthusiasts in our company who can’t wait to show the world that farming can indeed be fun and competitive at the same time. We believe we found the right mix of real farming and fun to play game elements to ensure everyone will find it entertaining."

This new push will also see changes coming to Farming Simulator 19, that will, err, move on "from bale stacking". A new competitive 3 v 3 mode is coming, that will "stand true to [Farming Simulator's] roots in farming and combine real field work like harvesting with fun and challenging game elements".
