The Medium is a new psychological horror set to debut December 10 on Xbox Series X and Series S, in addition to PC. Featuring a light/dark world setup (ala SNES Zelda or Metroid Prime 2) that you can visit and explore simultaneously, it's one of many third-party titles for Microsoft's next-gen console we're really keen to play. That said, it's arriving one month after the Series X and Series S November 10 launch date.
Which puts it at Marchtember 212 or whatever the translation is in 2020 terms.
In a refreshing change of pace, the release date trailer that debuted over the weekend takes a more subtle and moody approach by showcasing the impressive environments "inspired by Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński, and his dystopian surrealist work". Featuring music from the soundtrack, The Medium is shaping up well.
Discover a dark mystery only a medium can solve. Explore the real world and the spirit world at the same time. Use your psychic abilities to solve puzzles spanning both worlds, uncover deeply disturbing secrets, and survive encounters with The Maw - a monster born from an unspeakable tragedy.
Without a current-gen release Bloober Team’s The Medium will make full use of Xbox Series X and S next-gen bandwidth in terms of the loading and data speeds required to render two realities at once.
