Usually when we see split-screen we think about some form of multiplayer. Or, our eyes glaze over as we recall playing Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye 007. Making it's debut during the third-party Xbox Series X showcase in May, The Medium creepy survival horror vibes impressed. Overnight we got an updated look at that - including its fascinating "dual-reality gameplay".

Which is where all the split-screen talk came from. basically The Medium features a two worlds and realities (think The Legend of Zelda light and dark world) and both will be rendered in real-time on Xbox Series X hardware. And explored at the same time.

Wojciech Piejko, Lead Game Designer, The Medium had the following to say.
Both of these worlds can be rendered, displayed, interacted with, and explored at the same time.

Made possible only through the power that cutting-edge next-gen hardware brings, The Medium renders two fully-fledged and visually distinct worlds simultaneously with no visible loading times. At different points in the game, players will find themselves playing in either of the worlds, or within both at the same time, with the game purposefully designed in this way to ensure variety and surprise.

This technology provides players a unique way to play, and a whole new experience and perspective. A seemingly impossible to find escape in the real world, or an unsolvable puzzle, can be unveiled in the spirit world via Marianne’s medium powers. And with different controller inputs mapped to each world, exploration and puzzle-solving can be simultaneous when needed.

This looks damn cool and it's on track for release this year too. In addition to Xbox Series X it's also coming to PC.

Why does every female protagonist have to be a plain-Jane these days? The game looks interesting but pozzed garbage is pozzed!
