The remake of the beloved Game Boy adventure The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening recreates the game with a look that is part diorama come to life and part stop-motion claymation. It looks brilliant in motion, and alongside the release date announcement that came overnight - September 20, 2019 - for Nintendo Switch we've got our most detailed look at the game so far.
Here's 30 minutes of Link's Awakening gameplay from Nintendo Treehouse with Breath of the Wild director and The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma on hand to talk a bit about the game, its history, and the remake.
Compared to the stylish and very dark Breath of the Wild 2 teaser that dropped last night, Link's Awakening looks fun, vibrant, and charming. With more quirk than we usually see in a Zelda game. Plus, there's a Dungeon creator mode in the game (which you can see at around thr 15 minute mark in the video above) that let's you lay out a classic top-down Zelda Dungeon using any "tile" piece you've encountered in-game. Very cool.
