And it features a horde-like mode called Trial of the Sword where you take on waves of enemies -- with a sword. Or, if you're game, a Korok Leaf. Entering the trial with no items if Link makes it all the way through each of the 45 rooms the Master Sword will be in its glowing powered-up state whenever usable. Also coming with the DLC pack is a new Hard Mode, some armour, and other items.
Now, when it comes to the new Hard Mode, unfortunately it sounds kind of boring. In its current state The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is just about a survival game, so the idea of tough enemies whilst battling the elements and stuff like hunger and fatigue would be an interesting spin. Instead the new Hard Mode has enemies that gradually regain health and are powered up by one level. Meaning red becomes blue, and so forth.
The DLC pack also comes with a new feature called Hero's Path Mode that displays Link's journey in a GPS-style fashion on the map, covering his last 200 hours of travel across Hyrule. On the item front the new Travel Medallion will allow you to create a single fast-travel point anywhere on the map, plus a Korok Mask that will start shaking whenever a Korok seed is nearby. And with 900 to collect this will probably be a must for all the completionistas out there.
Plus, some new armour and a Tingle outfit that no one asked for.
DLC Pack 1 is part of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass available for $30. Pack 2 will come sometime in the future and is touted to include new story content.

I'm gonna by the pass mostly for the extra levels they're going to make. I really wish hardmode was accessible from the start. The current "new game" is super easy for me. I usually play on hard depending on the game mostly because I prefer achallange and I'm not playing the game again.
???????? Tingle is awesome, you need to play the DS tingle game.

You do sound like a broken record, and its kinda lame man.
But hey, go ahead and repeat yourself in every single Switch post if that somehow makes you happy.
Making reds into blues is a pretty big change though, given that weapon durability is a resource, this will make the early and mid game much more difficult. I also wonder what Guardians and Silver Lynels will play like with a level boost.
I just 'completed' the game last night. I'm looking forward to a replay in hard mode.

Yeh but do we need to hear about it in every thread?
I like the f*****g game and the console, and hoped to actually talk about the DLC with others and sensibly discuss its value proposition. But every time there is a thread on here about Nintendo there's an immediate whinge, half the time from people who don't even own the hardware and will never buy Nintendo gear.
Maybe I should just stay on reddit.

For the record though, I own a fair bit of Nintendo gear; last few generations of consoles, a few 3ds's and a few DS's (even one of those original giant grey ones). I probably ham it up a bit and act anti-Nintendo, but I'm not really, its just a fun position to play at times opposite all the fanboy love. I'm sure I'll inevitably buy a Switch at some point, it just hasn't tipped the balance for me yet

I do agree with Khel, hardmode should have been accessible from the start.
Who's going to buy the pass? Also does anyone know if the DLC is tied to the console or the account? I don't remember signing up to anything...

I'm old enough to remember expansion packs for games, which would often include UI and gameplay improvements and additions to the original, that you had to pay for as part of the upgrade. We called them 'new features'. Nobody got their nickers in a knot because a HUD or minimap was refined.
What is a 'Season Pass' if not a small expansion pack? Why is it not OK to add gameplay-enhancing features as part of an expansion? Seriously, its OK for other companies to sell cosmetics an s*** for $10-$50 a pop but an actually useful feature should somehow have been part of the base game or never, ever added until a sequel was released?
Don't get me wrong, if Ninty had bundled s*** like their system performance updates into a DLC pack I'd be all pitchforks and hand grenades. I'm still waiting to be able to save and restore to cloud or sdCard, and if that's something i have to pay for I shall be most wrothful. Its just that the content on offer doesn't fix a broken game, it adds to a complete and lauded game, so I dont understand the complaints. Zelda BOTW is a 100% complete game as is, and arguably more complete than most at launch.
I think at $19.95 USD the planned DLC for the Season Pass is pretty good value, and should extend the life of the game. Much better than the next $49.95 arcana from dotes, but hey that's a cosmetic skin so no internet outrage culture is required.
As to Nintendo 'getting away with it', what Internet are you guys using, did I miss a v2.0 or something?

And I was just about to finally send you a steam key, too!
pave: I tried to do that the other day, it didn't go well.

For Zelda? :(
I just wanna chat about zelda because no one I know plays it.

That's why the argument is old and tired and we don't need to keep hearing it. S*** ain't changing anytime soon, the rallying of wallets has shown it as so.
Also, Tingle outfit is the best outfit to grace any game. I literally only just got a Switch this Tuesday gone and I'm 100% throwing down cash on this season pass. $30 aint nothing for the amount of hours I've already sunk into Zelda and I haven't even left the Great Plateau .

Which ones? Do they also not have collector's etc editions?

Mass Effect: Andromeda didn't include a season pass, but the main DLC pack is not expected to be free, right?!
DA: Inquisition had no season pass, but its DLC was totes expensive and a f***en mess in general.

I'm sure it'll still be at a premium price, but if its well thought out DLC that tends more towards feeling like an expansion, rather than something that was pushed out the door to meet some pre-determined DLC schedule, then I don't mind paying for it.
